The Jagruk Kisan Society

Our Journey

The name Jagruk Kisan means “Aware Farmer” – and that truly defines who we are.

Our journey began under the LIC HFL Hriday Project, implemented by Shramik Bharti in April 2022 across seven villages of Moga district, Punjab. This holistic rural development initiative, supported by LIC Housing Finance Ltd. as part of its CSR efforts, introduced us to the transformative concept of Natural Farming.

Before this project, many of us believed that farming in Punjab was only possible through chemical-based practices. However, through the guidance and awareness sessions led by natural farming experts like Gurpreet Singh (Dabrikhana) and Manbir Singh (Raidu), our thinking began to change.

We took our first steps by creating small kitchen gardens of about 600 sq. ft., where we practiced natural methods to grow vegetables for our families. Encouraged by the positive results, we gradually expanded from kitchen gardens to our farms, adopting natural farming on a larger scale.

Today, around 100 farmers are practicing natural farming for self-consumption and beyond. We also realized that natural farming can be economically sustainable when farmers take responsibility for production, processing, and marketing themselves.

Motivated by this belief, on 4th March 2025, nine progressive farmers came together to formally establish the Jagruk Kisan Society – a collective dedicated to promoting natural, chemical-free, and sustainable agriculture in Punjab.

Our Mission

Our mission is threefold:

  1. To Cultivate Health: To grow and provide the purest, most nourishing food possible, contributing to the health and well-being of our community.

  2. To Heal the Earth: To regenerate our soil and protect the environment through sustainable, 100% natural farming practices.

  3. To Empower Farmers: To create a sustainable and transparent model where farmers are empowered, fully controlling the quality and value of their produce from growth to processing.
